Grey Spaces is following the paths and journeys of Port City Southern food and culture as it continues to be dynamically on the move. This means that we are investing in cities, communities, and expressions featured in the many narratives and cultures reflected in Afro-Atlantic histories. Mashama Bailey
Born in the Bronx and raised between New York City and coastal Georgia, James Beard Award-winning Chef Mashama brings a distinctive point of view to food shaped by her Southern roots, early influences from the women in her family, and her time in Europe and New York City. She trained at the Institute of Culinary Education and studied in Burgundy, France, before building her career in New York kitchens, including formative years at Prune under her mentor, Gabrielle Hamilton.
